Historic
Port Hope is one of
Ontario’s oldest
and prettiest communities. Settled
by Empire Loyalists
in the lat 1700’s
Port Hope, somewhat
like being enclosed
in a time capsule still
retains its old world
charm. The Municipality

the quaint rural villages
of Port Britain, Wesleyville,
Welcome, Canton, Osaca,

not take a drive into
the country and discover
their charms.
Downtown
Port Hope is a heritage
conservation district
and the main street
boasts the best preserved
streetscape in Ontario. There
are over 280 designated
heritage homes and

in Canada. Complimenting
the architecture are
numerous antique, boutiques,
specialty and one of
a kind shops. Self
guided walking tour
booklets are available
at the Visitors Information
Centre.

Capitol Theatre offers
year round entertainment
in music, dance, comedy,
opera, and a professional
summer season of plays.
The theater was built
in 1930 and is fully
restored and barrier
free, it is one of
the last atmospheric
theatres still in operation
in Canada.
